Speaker: David Johnston
David Johnston has been in the construction industry designing, building and consulting on environmental construction for over 30 years. He founded Lightworks Construction, Inc. in Bethesda MD, was named Builder of the Year by Washington, D.C. chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and has been inducted into the Remodeling Hall of Fame.
Johnston founded What’s Working, Inc. in 1992 and became the original designer of the Denver Metro Home Builders Association’s Built Green Program. David is also the main designer and consultant to the Alameda County Waste Management Authority’s program, stimulating market transformation programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He presents his expertise across the country and internationally to groups including real estate professionals, builders, developers, city/state officials, civic organizations, utilities, and universities. Johnston has received numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Corporate Excellence Award for Sustainable Development from the University of Colorado, and was named Environmental Hero for 2004 by Interiors and Sources Magazine. He has represented the United States at International Energy Agency meetings to develop international research agreements in the area of sustainable construction.
David lives and works in Boulder, Colorado.
